Fixture, High Temperature Furnace, 330 Stainless Steel,
Weight: 11.0 lb.

Redesigned as an investment casting from a 4-piece sand casting. Benefits:18% increase in part loading capacity because of thinner walls; cast as a single piece thereby eliminating welds and increasing usable life of parts; 33% cost savings.

Pivoting Dog, 8620 alloy steel, Weight: 2.25 lb.

Redesigned as an investment casting from a 4 piece fabrication using in-house reverse engineering capabilities. Benefits: Weight reduction of 0.75 lbs.; achieved desired arc not possible through bending, eliminated welds that have the potential of cracking and failure under repeated use; better overall appearance.

Fixture, High Temperature Furnace, 310 Stainless Steel,
Weight: 11.0 lb.

Redesigned a 9 piece 304 stainless alloy weldment as an investment casting using in-house CMM capabilities. Benefits: Eliminated all welds and used a higher grade of stainless to prolong useful life of parts. Fabrication (r) shown after one year of use has significant weld failure and warping. Castings have shown no significant signs of wear or warping after 5 years of continuous use. Investment casting designed with additional lands and wider base to increase stability during use. 8% cost savings.

Brush Guide, Silicon Bronze, Weight: 1.25 lb.

Redesigned as an investment casting using in-house CMM capabilities. Benefits: Reduced total assembly part count from 35 pieces to 5 pieces (3 castings and 2 springs); No tools required to assemble; reduced delivery from 8 months to 4 weeks (original part imported from overseas); 57% cost reduction.
